glad tidings to the strangers
If you read history, you will find that the only times the Muslims, or anyone for that matter, were triumphant was when they were united against a common enemy.
During the Crusades the Christians were united in their barbaric and brutal conquest of Muslim lands. They were easily able to walk through Muslim lands as Muslim Emirs were extremely disunited and were constantly having feuds with one another over land and power. The Crusaders were able to march through and desecrate the Muslims with ease. Some Emirs even supplied weapons and food to The Crusaders to avoid being massacred. When The Crusaders entered Jeruselum they massacred 70’000 Muslim men, women and children-the response of the Ummah? nothing. They were too busy fighting amongst themselves to be able to do anything. For the First time since Umar Ibn Khattab the call for prayer was not heard in Jerusalem. Some Crusaders bragged that in masjid al-Aqsa the blood of Muslims flowed up to their ankles.
The main divide between the Muslims was the Shia/Sunni split. The Abassid caliphate in Syria/Baghdad and the Fatimid dynasty in Egypt were constantly at war-at times they even formed alliances with The Crusders (Saudi Arabia springs to mind).
It was only when Salahuddin Al-Ayyubi united the Sunnis and Shias did the Muslims finally turn the tide and defeat the Crusaders. The Crusades counties were surrounded by a united Muslim force. Jerusalem was now back under Muslim control until 1917 when the British invaded after world war 1.
You see, when the Crusades were united they defeated their enemy. Were there internal feuds? of course there were. But they united for a common goal. The Muslims at this point were disunited so were easily defeated. When Muslims were united however, they triumphed.
Hopefully, the moral of the story is clear, but for those who still don’t get it I’ll put it more simply: Muslims are being massacred because we are divided within ourselves. Unite with your Muslim brother whatever sect he may belong to in order to end this crippling state of oppression we find ourselves under.
“And hold fast, all of you together, to the rope of Allah, and be not divided among yourselves.”
