glad tidings to the strangers
Courage determines how much of Islam we practice and how much of it we don’t. It determines how much of Islam we try to live by and how much we choose to neglect. Without it we will only ever practice behind closed doors and be ashamed of our faith but with it Islam will be a part of us and guide us no matter where we are.
To be courageous is to block out what people say about us and to listen to Allah instead. To be courageous is to practice and live by all of Islam’s teachings no matter how difficult it may be and no matter how strange we may appear. To be courageous in this world is to live and act with the akhirah in mind, not to live by the whims of the dunya. To be courageous is to be just in our dealings with people, animals and the environment, even if it means we may put ourselves at risk.
To be courageous isn’t to be fearless but it’s when our love for Allah is stronger than our fears and weaknesses. To be courageous is to do our part as God-serving Muslims and to leave the results, whatever they may be, up to Allah. To be courageous is to trust Allah more than we trust anyone or anything else. To be courageous is to be Muslim.
